Before I let Jasmine take over my blog, I thought I would introduce her from my own perspective.

Jasmine is my number one blogging gal. I love her blog (Flip That Page), and I love her even more. She is one of the funniest, kindest, most awesome people that you will ever meet, so I implore you to go and visit her blog – although I know that many of you have already come across her in your own blogging adventures (so you already know all of this).

I never thought that I would meet such amazing people when I joined the book blogging community, but meeting people like Jasmine, and all my other lovely blogging friends who consistently make my day by commenting on my posts, and having chats with me about the most random of things (you know who you are), has sincerely made this journey one of my all time favourites. Blogging is one the things I love to do most, and I can see myself being here for a very long time – so get used to me!

I have asked Jasmine to guest post on my blog because she is an amazing writer, and I thought that she would be an asset to this site of mine. So, without further ado, here she is!

P.s. Many a tear arose in my eyes as I read this post. Jasmine, I just = <3

Hi guys! It’s me, Chiara! Jasmine did not just totally hack into my blog and contaminate it with sheer awesomeness and total badassery.

… On the other hand, she may have just put up a nondescript title that tells you this is a guest post and Jasmine has indeed come to write you one. Fail.

But that’s not the point here! Truth of the matter is, I have for a long time coming been wondering and wanting to ask you guys a question, one that relates to the owner of the blog you’re reading this very moment (and if you are, you share in our awesomeness. You have come to right the place).

If you didn’t already know, I consider Chiara my Bloggy Best Friend, and she totally deserves an award, not that she has any shortage of such, either. What’s a BBF? Easy! Here’s how to tell:

  1. You talk about all the little things in life on Twitter.
  2. You leave comment-essays on each other’s blogs.
  3. You feel like there’s a missing part of you when the other is on hiatus.
  4. You talk outside of books.
  5. You share loads of similar interests.
  6. You are dying to meet each other (or meet again, if you’ve been lucky!)

If you score more than half, then there’s a good chance that you indeed have your own BBF. *claps* If your answer to this question consists of multiple people, then that may just be even better! But here’s where the million dollar question comes into play: How did you first meet your BBF and how has your relationship changed since then? As much as I would love to get this over with to read the comments where you share your own experiences, let us begin with my own!

Chiara was in the fact, the first to find me. I’m not exactly sure how she did, but it was at one of my first Top Ten Tuesdays posts, and she was one of the bloggers who stopped by to comment (it was something about her wanting to read All Our Yesterdays. Months and a budding friendship later, she did!) I didn’t think much of it then, since she was one of many, but I did click to the link on her comment, venturing on to visit her blog for the first time.

I remember thinking her header was the loveliest I had seen thus far. It wasn’t her own, but I loved how it captivated me into further exploration and gave the blog an air of mystery. The rest of it was elegant and tidy, which served to draw me in, so I scrolled through her posts, and then first realized through her writing that she seemed like a massively friendly person. But I couldn’t determine just yet. Moments later, I checked back to Flip That Page, and found out that she had replied to my reply. I remember this making me feel special—it’s not often that I am able to tell someone is actually checking to see if I answered!

Chiara commented on one of my earlier recaps, which spurred a lengthy conversation on prom, Australia, sushi, beaches, boys, and goodness knows what else besides. It was one of the most interactive and memorable moments of my blogger life, since never before had I been in a full-on conversation with another blogger, from outside the nation no less, and I do love a good chat! That was the first time I truly acknowledged the fact that we were soul sisters were meant to meet in person, and believe you me I am damn straight making that wish of mine come true. I’m not the only one who wants to meet someone like her, am I? (Can I get a HELL NO)

Since then we started commenting back and forth on each other’s blogs. Chiara would usually comment on mine more, since as previously mentioned, she did reply to my replies, and thus our lengthier conversations occurred at my blog (sometimes, you’ll see a certain post of mine where Chiara and I reply to each other in quick succession. We turn the comment boxes into chat boxes often HAHA. Good times, good times). I, on the other hand, tend to leave comment-essays on her discussion posts, which are interesting and thought-provoking. A few days later, we continued our conversations on Twitter, where we usually fangirl on movie stars and vintage fashion, books, and countless other interests.

Suffice it to say, I think Chiara has been one of the friendliest and most lovable bloggers I’ve had the pleasure to meet online. I knew blogging would mean exposure, but that doesn’t mean as much to me as does the friendships I gain with other bloggers. I of course, have lots of other AMAZING friends that I constantly chat with, mostly on Twitter, though I don’t wish to name anymore, for fear of exclusion. But you know who you are (My Raven girl homies, and all the other bloggers who keep my ‘Interactions’ page refreshed. I love you).

And that’s it for my story!

I don’t think that all of us can single out one person as a Bloggy Best Friend, because a lot of people out there are sociable and talk to loads of other bloggers at equal intervals. Either way, however, I do believe that there is something of interest behind what makes each of us happy, and my friends more than do that for me.

Now it’s your turn! How did you meet your BBF? If you don’t have one, tell us instead about the people you’d like to meet! :D Leave a comment, and make Chiara’s day (as well as mine!)

That is a wonderful story. I think it is crazy awesome how accepting and loving the book community is. <3

My BFF is someone I knew for years- we were in band together. However, we didn't 'bond' until high school. We has mutual friends, and we ended up spending the night at her house after homecoming. We were BFF's from then on out.

  2. Aw, man, this is so sweet <3 You two made me feel emotional (I'm not joking!). It's really amazing that you two formed such a strong bond! And I hope you guys will get to meet each other soon!

  3. I hadn’t heard of this before but that is cool that you guys have so much to talk about it..it is what I like about interacting online it is hard to find people IRL that share the same interests etc.

    • It is hard to find people in my everyday non-online life to talk about all these things with, so I am glad to have Jasmine (and of course, every other one of my bloggy friends).
Book blogging definitely meets my ‘obsessed with books and want to talk about them all the time’ needs :D

HAHA yeah that’s the irony of life sometimes– you meet more people with similar interests online! That’s exactly why meeting Chiara was such an amazing experience, as well as all the other people who have been major coolbeans. I’d really wanna get to meet you ALL in real life though!

Awww this was so cute you guys! Even though I don’t think I’ve ever been on this blog before and therefore I don’t really know Chiara (hi! I’m an Aussie too. Well, I assume you’re an Aussie because you were discussing Australia with Jasmine, and I know she’s not from Aussie…then again, the Aussie discussion might just be that you both want to go to Australia at some point…eh, I’m just going to assume you’re Australian until proven otherwise :P) it’s awesome to see how close you two are :3
