tag

I was not actually tagged to do this but I REALLY WANT TO because it’s Shades of Magic <3 As far as I can tell there aren’t any rules, but here’s a link to the original post!

A book that you keep going back to despite trying to quit it.

I don’t think this book exists for me. If I like something I’m not going to try and quit it. If I quit something I quit it forever *shrug*

A book/series that you’ve left behind forever.

Anything Sarah J. Maas. Sorry, not sorry.

A majorly bad book/series with just one beautiful spark.

This is another hard question for me to answer because if a series is majorly bad then I don’t continue it long enough to find a beautiful spark…

A book/series that you feel blessed to have read.

I feel blessed to have read Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas because I never thought that it would burrow into my heart the way it has, and it’s honestly just so precious to me.

A book that changes every time you read it.

Oops. I have only been determined to get back into re-reading this year. But I loved something new every time I re-read Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier when I re-read it all the time back in the days before blogging!

A fictional world that makes you feel love and fear.

I think the world of The Diviners books is the perfect answer because I love so much about the world in those books, but the plots are always hinged on terrible shit happening, haha.

Book/series that started off meh, but ended up being great.

Oh, goodness. In general, my love for series goes down with time rather than up. But I’m going to cheat here and say that Huntress, the prequel to Ash by Malinda Lo but released afterwards, was great when I felt meh about its predecessor.

A book/series that you would kill for.

I don’t think I actually love any book or series enough to kill for it.

The world is dying. Save one book.

I would probably end up saving the largest history book in the world because I wouldn’t want our history to be lost. (NEEEEERRRRDDDD)

Name a book/series that has utterly consumed you.

I can easily name two series that have consumed me: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater and Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat.

A book/series that you refuse to open.

Books by authors who have behaved really horribly.

An author who controls your purse strings.

I will buy anything that C.S. Pacat writes. Anything.

What character/s from the Shades of Magic trilogy would you like to see have a spinoff?

HOLLAND. I know that A Conjuring of Light had quite a bit of back story for our tortured Antari, but I still love him so much and would adore more about him. But when I was reading the books I also thought it would be interesting to read about Kell and Rhy’s father when he was the golden prince or whatever he was called. I think it would be interesting!

If you could rule one of the four Londons, which one would you rule?

I am torn between White London and Red London. I would kind of want to rule White London so I could show them that a leader can be kind and not horrible AF. But Red London is so… bright. I would probably end up ruling White London because I have a soft spot for broken things.

  1. HI! We are so glad you did this? And we have two reasons for our happiness.
One: It makes us feel good that people our doing our tag and
Two: WE WOULD TOTALLY RULE WHITE LONDON TOO BECAUSE HI. IT’S THE BIRTHDAY PLACE OF HOLLAND. WHO WOULDN’T WANT TO TAKE OVER THAT???

  2. I’ve been reading to read Shades of Magic for ages and now I’ll definitely have to because this tag sounds like fun :)

  3. Annemieke says:

Oh this sounds like a great tag to do! Great answers.

  4. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU’VE LEFT ALL THINGS MAAS BEHIND? Also, you are a kind soul for saving the world’s largest history book. I’d want something non-historical lol.

I so totally need to reread ADSOM, and then finish the trilogy! Then maybe — MAYBE — I can do this tag ;)

      I have for many reasons!

What can I say? I want us to remember the things we’ve done – good and bad.

Finish the trilogy, Rosie! It’s so worth it. The third book is in fact my favourite :D And then you can totally do this awesome tag!

  5. shooting says:

I really need to read the last two of these, but I LOVED the first one. This is a fun tag though!

YES. I also have left all things Sarah J. Maas behind. I am sooooooo glad that I’m not alone here. I really loved this tag and your honest answers. I wonder if there is truly a complete history of the world book…
