Changes to the Blog
Books for Thought is where I post a discussion topic related to books, reading, writing, or something pertaining to one of the three. I hope you’ll join in, and discuss today’s topic of
changing up the way i blog
Come June 2019 I will have been blogging here for six years. Six years. That’s such a long time. And if I’m being entirely honest, I’ve lost some of my spark. I started this blog because of my love of reading and books, and I wanted to share my thoughts on the books I read with other bookish people. But I think sticking to books has stifled me a little bit, and lately I’ve been struggling to come up with strictly bookish related posts.
A few years ago I branched out and created a second blog where I spoke about writing and music and movies and TV (and sometimes books because I’m still me). And it was fun! I liked talking about these other things because even though I adore books they’re not the only thing in my life that I love to spend my time with. Unfortunately, because of circumstances beyond me that blog is now dead. I didn’t want it to die but here we are. However, I’m actually hoping this might be a good thing. That this might be the push I need to bring all that content over here. Instead of spreading myself across two blogs and two readerships, I could just consolidate all my content here.
The majority of my posts will still be about books and I’ll be publishing just as many reviews so not much is going to change. I’m not changing my blog’s name or the theme. I’m just bringing some new content that is fun for me to write, and hopefully fun for everyone who reads this blog of mine, as well! I might republish the posts I made on my other blog since, if I’m being honest, not many people read them and yet I think they’re worth the read ;) I would just have to figure out how to recover them is all…
But anyway! I just thought I’d let y’all know that a few changes are coming here and they’re changes I’m excited about! I hope you are excited about them, too :)
Have you ever changed up the way you blog? Do you like o keep things separate or make your blog the place you talk about all the things you love?
This will be a good thing, I think! I once created an extra blog for mental health and positivity too, and then that died out within six months, haha. It’s much easier to just put everything into one blog. We’ll be here for all of it.
I’m glad you think so, Inge! Ah, it’s so hard, right? In the beginning I was handling it and then… nope. Thank you for your kind words!
Branching out is a good idea! I’m glad you’re sticking to the blog. I also lost my spark last year, and I’m desperately trying to find it again. I’ve tried doing some movie and travel related posts but most people only seem interested in the books, which I guess is fair enough!
I have lost a bit of my spark as well so I’m really hoping that introducing new content might make it fun for me again! I’m sorry people didn’t take to your other posts, but I say keep going!! Other people might discover your blog because of those things :)
Ooh I’m so excited to see the new content! This blog is one of the first I followed when I joined the book community.
I’m so glad! And that’s lovely to know :D
great post chiara! personally, i’m super interested to read your non-bookish post. not that i don’t enjoy your bookish post, i just feel like i know you better based on your other interests, you know? :D i blog about my interest in media, such as movies, shows, books, and songs and i find it really fun too! :D
Thanks, Tasya! I’m really happy that you’re interested in the posts I’ve got coming up :D I think if we sick ourselves into the book blogging niche it can get a bit tiring. So I’m glad we’re both branching out!
I think this sounds awesome. I’ve definitely expanded what I write about on my blog, and I love it. It makes it easier to post sometimes – and it’s fun for me. I’ll be blogging for 12 years this August, so it’s good for me to not JUST focus on books, though I’ll always have book reviews and other book related posts.
Thank you, Lauren! I’m glad you think so. 12 years is such an amazing achievement! It’s actually my sixth blogging anniversary today and even that feels like a long time, haha. I haven’t branched too far away from books but knowing I can write about whatever I feel like writing about makes me feel happier about the blog ^.^
