books-for-life

In an effort to share more of myself with you guys I created Books for Life. I talk about my life outside of this sanctuary called the blogosphere. Hopefully you guys like getting to know the girl behind the blog a little bit more.

So I recently posted about the musicals I have seen, and then I thought I’d do the musicians that I’ve seen live. I love music more than anything – I truly cannot understand people who don’t constantly have music playing. Their lives would be so quiet! Anyway, so here are the amazing artists I’ve seen live:

Cat Stevens – indoor arena

Bon Jovi – outdoor arena (he was the size of a freaking ant)

Thirty Seconds to Mars – outdoor arena (worst experience of them all. I had bruises across my ribs and hips)

Florence + the Machine – outdoor arena

Ed Sheeran – outdoor arena (probably the best experience because it was JUST him)

The Paper Kites (x3) – intimate

Matt Corby – (x2) once semi intimate and once TOO intimate (all I could see of him was the tip of his ponytail)

The Alpine – intimate

The Jezabels – indoor arena

Conrad Sewell – outdoor arena

Jamie Lawson – outdoor arena

Ballpark Music – intimate

Boy & Bear- intimate

Angus & Julia Stone – semi-intimate

Husky – intimate (in an old museum. The acoustics were freaking AMAZING)

Death Cab for Cutie – semi-intimate (I had to leave early which BROKE MY HEART)

Tim Hart – extremely intimate (just in a tiny room with him about ~1m away from me)

Patrick James – extremely intimate (same as above; it was the same night)

Art of Sleeping – intimate

Thelma Plum – intimate

Jon English – semi-intimate

City & Colour – semi-intimate (I got to meet Dallas afterwards and have a PHOTO)

Fatis Valour – semi-intimate

The Moody Blues – indoor arena

Jordie Lane – indoor arena

Lior – semi-intimate (he wasn’t singing his own music, though)

America – semi-intimate (and the sound was shit)

And I am seeing my love Ben Howard in May (my numero uno bb precious). And I’d LOVE to see Sleeping At Last one day, but alas only US shows for them at the moment. There are a bunch of other artists I’d really like to see live, but we’ll see how I go. For now, I think I’ve done pretty well with my musician seeing :D

Have you seen any musicians? Which ones? Which was THE BEST experience? (I can’t choose mine) Or the WORST?

P.s. I just started a writing blog (you can win a book to celebrate!) :D

Wow. That’s a lot of concerts, and I wish I’d watched as much as even half of this number, but I’ve watched a grand total of zero celebrity concerts. I’m also scared to do so, because Filipinos line up the day before for book signings. I’m scared about what would happen if it was a celebrity.

    • Chiara says:

Right? I was actually pretty surprised by how many I have seen :O

The day before? Holy dooly. No one’s that keen here, haha. Especially since we pre-buy our tickets. If it’s standing then people get there really early on that day but maybe for the right person the might be super keen XD

  2. Hmm, this is tough! My favourite concerts would have to be P!nk (she puts on an amazing show!) and Justin Timberlake (again, another great show!). I’m seeing Ed Sheeran in June and I can’t wait!
PS. I’ve tagged you for the Ultimate Book Tag. If you have the time it would be great to see your answers to the questions; if not, I completely understand!

    Happy reading!

    • Chiara says:

I have heard that Pink does AMAZING concerts. I have a friend who has been to a whole bunch of them.

Oh, I hope you like Ed’s show! It is pretty fantastic since it’s just him, his guitar, and some equipment.

Thank you! I am truly awful at tags, though XD

  3. Totally going over to your writing blog and follow immediately! Can’t wait to see what you post :D

Aw man, that’s a lot of concerts! I haven’t been to many because of health issues, but the ones that I did go to, were all pretty great. For one, I went to a festival here in the neighbourhood and saw The All-American Rejects, Blink 182, and Rise Against all on the same day, which was amazing.

My best experience was Nickelback. I know a lot of people hate them, or think it’s cool to hate them, but they’ve been my favourite band for the past ten years or so. I’d never seen them live until 2013, when a friend of mine won a meet & greet and took me with her! She only went to the concert to I could meet them, and it was surreal. All we did was shake hands, say “hi”, and take a picture — it was over in 30 seconds — but just meeting my favourite band after so many years? Amazing. Just fantastic. And I enjoyed the concert a hellot, even though I fainted (again, health issues). My friend accompanied me to the back, where I sat down and sang along with everything until the end. :D

    • Chiara says:

      Eep, thank you Inge! <3

I would LOVE to see Blink-182! I know they came here a while ago but tickets were crazy expensive :(

That's amazing! I got to meet Thirty Seconds to Mars, as well. Even if it was only for a moment it was amazing meeting the people who made the music I have loved forever. So I completely understand! It's a shame about your health issues, but chilling up the back sounds pretty nice ^.^

  4. Omg you’ve seen so many musicians live!! I am jealous. But, particularly of Ed Sheeran, Florence and 30 STM , although you did say it was a bad experience. I saw One Direction almost a year ago (sobs) and even though I went by myself I had one of the best days of my life, probably cause I’m such a fan :) Funny thing, Ed Sheeran is performing in my city tonight but I didn’t have money to buy the ticket so I won’t see him lol :(

    • Chiara says:

I have – eep. TSTM wasn’t a bad experience because of the music – more so the crowd. They were drunk and I was crushed so it wasn’t particularly fun :/

You’re lucky to have seen 1D before Zayn left. Have you heard his demo song yet? I think it’s super pretty.

Oh no D: Hopefully the next time Ed comes along, you’ll have the funds!

  5. Katherine says:

Where I live, we don’t really have many venues for concerts, so I haven’t seen very many. You’ve seen plenty of though! It’s an experience I would like to see more often. I think Ed Sheeran would be great, as would Florence and the Machine. I’d also love to see a huge concert production – maybe something along the lines of Lady Gaga or Madonna (although I don’t really think they do concerts anymore, haha)!

    • Chiara says:

Ah, that sucks. I’m lucky that I have heaps of venues where I live. Ed and Florence were really amazing, and I feel super lucky for having seen them ^.^

I’d love to see a big production, too, but I don’t know if anyone really does those any more D:

  6. Annette says:

I think my best experience was actually Florence + the Machine – who you’ve already seen – and their pre-show band was The XX who literally made the entire room shake with their base. Best show ever! I quite like folksy music too and Kathryn Williams and Emily Smith live are both good. Worst show? Umm… It was actually a Musical (in London). I went to see We Will Rock You and the music was so bad you couldn’t even make out half the words…

    • Chiara says:

I would have loved The XX to be the opening for Florence! I had two completely random people open for her. Sigh.

Oh I hate it when you can’t hear the words! D:

  7. Romi says:

I love music, though nothing can trump my love for books, when it comes to that kind of thing (by which I mean people and animals do trump it, but I catagorise them separately), but I have as yet never been to a concert (I’ve been to classical music things, but never a concert for a singer of music that I like- which is confusing. I think my mind is fizzing. I like classical! But it wasn’t singers. This makes no sense. MOVING ON.), but I do have musicians I plan to see if they come to Australia, like Mika and Christina Perri. I’d like to see Paramore, too, though I don’t think I like nearly enough of their songs to warrant that, and Florence + The Machine would be incredible! Was that a good show?
    Xx

    • Chiara says:

Ah, I see what you mean. I am a love of music, although it doesn’t come close to my love for books. A lot more musicians come here than authors, though XD I have been to an orchestra when I was ~8 for a school excursion HAHA. I remember actually really liking it.

OH I really want to go to one of those things where they play the movie in the background but live-play the score! Like the Lord of the Rings ones *.* I think that would be amazing.

Florence was so good! It was great hearing her voice :D Even if she didn’t play my favourite song *weeping*

  8. Ohmygosh, this is such an incredible list. Music has always been and will always be my first love (with books a VERY close second, of course!). I’m so ridiculously happy for you, that you got to see all of these gorgeous artists – in particular, The Paper Kites, Ed Sheeran, Angus & Julia Stone, and Death Cab.

And also: YOU’RE SEEING BEN HOWARD IN LESS THAN A MONTH?! Asdjkfhlkajsdfakjdfa;lsdfjdhsf;a. (I have no words beyond delighted keyboard-smashing. ;))

I wish I could say that I’ve been to this many concerts, but alas, my anxiety rears its ugly head whenever crowds come into the picture, so this is one thing that I haven’t gotten a chance to experience, unfortunately :( Hopefully I’ll be able to change that soon, though – what I wouldn’t give to be able to see any of the artists on your list!

    • Chiara says:

Thank you! :D I am pretty lucky. And those that you mentioned are my favourites, so you definitely have good taste :D

I AM OMG I AM SO SO SO EXCITED HE IS MY ONE TRUE LOVE TOPAZ

Oh, I can understand that. Luckily a lot of these weren’t the big-crowd type. I had a bit of an attack at Thirty Seconds to Mars and had to be pulled out of the crowd because I couldn’t breathe. So that sucked :(
