Simply Sunday is a reading meme run here at Books for a Delicate Eternity. It’s where you can share your favourite quote of the week; be it from a book, a novella, a short story, a poem – whatever you like!

My Simple Thing:

“He was a book, and he was holding his final pages, and he wanted to get to the end to find out how it went, and he didn’t want it to be over.”

A quote from Maggie Stiefvater (The Raven King).

Why I Chose It:

I will never not be over The Raven King. I pretty much could have highlighted the whole book because there was just so many beautiful lines, and beautiful passages.

I especially liked this one, though, because it has a bookish/reading theme, which I always love. And I totally related to it. Not so much that I am holding the book of my own life but rather the feeling of wanting to know how things end (especially books), but also not wanting those things to ever finish (especially books). This quote was just so incredibly gorgeous, and full of beautiful imagery. I could not resist sharing it with you all!divWhat do you think of my Simply Sunday? Have you read any quotes you’ve loved recently?

  1. Oh, beautiful quote. I do love the bookish ones. I haven’t read The Raven King yet, as I’m about to start Blue Lily, Lily Blue – so I’m close!

I will never not be over The Raven King either! And yes, that quote pretty much applies to every single amazing book I’ve read :)

Ooh, Chiara. That quote is absolutely gorgeous and completely phenomenal. I love it when a quote isn’t just beautiful and something that’s elegant and touching and nice to read. I love it when a quote means something to you, and makes you realise that you’ve got those things inside of you, just like the character, that you have the feelings and dreams and hopes, and you can identify with how they’re feeling, because it just makes everything more emotional and stronger and it’s so compelling, when you connect with what a character is feeling, or with th words an author writes.

I think I’m very much the sort of person who, were I to have the choice to know how my life played out (or ended, as it usually is) I would staunchly turn my back on the knowing. And yet I would want to know, I would always wonder, and this…this kind of touches on that, except at a level I feel even more in sync with. I would say I’m speechless, but I’m obviously not *laughs* I’m so glad you’ve forced me to give The Raven Boys a try. Although… you didn’t actually know you had, did you. Heh. NOW YOU DO.

I’m so glad you liked it, lovely <3 I think the quotes that are beautiful and yet connect with you at the same time are definitely the best ones. I always try to showcase those kinds of quotes on a Sunday.

I'm so, so happy that this quote reached out to you, as well. That is so wonderful. AND HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE TOLD ME I HAD CONVINCED YOU TO READ THE RAVEN BOYS? CRUELLL
