mail

Books for Mail is basically me showcasing my addiction to buying books. Every two weeks, I’ll show you guys which books I have bought/received, and hopefully you’ll find some great titles!

In My Mailbox:

SS Collage25

Lair of Dreams by Libbra Bray: LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL COVER, OHMYGOSH. Thank you very much, Allen & Unwin!

How to Be Happy by Dave Burton: A YA non-fiction book about getting through high school and university. Thank you, Text Publishing!

Jukebox by Gina Noelle Daggett: I got this for about $3 on Booktopia, and it’s about two girls in love in the time of debutantes. It sounds cheesy and also kind of heartbreaking at the same time.

Another Day by David Levithan: The companion to Every Day, but told from Rhiannon’s POV. I’m interested and worried at the same time because I didn’t even really like Rhiannon. EEP. Thank you, Text!

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas: I CANNOT EVEN WITH THIS BOOK – AHHH! THANK YOU, Bloomsbury Australia!!!

Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick and Suzanne Young: This was about $7 on Booktopia, and it sounds so awesome. Kind of like Sliding Doors.

The Originals by Cat Patrick: Another cheap book I purchased, because it’s been on my TBR FOR AGES.

Homecoming by Nell Stark: This was $2.95, and its about a girl in college whose girlfriend dumps her, and then everything hits the fan. I’m keen.

sunday

Simply Sunday is a reading meme run here at Books for a Delicate Eternity. It’s where you can share your favourite quote of the week; be it from a book, a novella, a short story, a poem – whatever you like!

My Simple Thing:

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: We all want everything to be okay. We don’t even wish so much for fantastic or marvelous or outstanding. We will happily settle for okay, because most of the time, okay is enough.”

A quote from David Levithan (Every Day).

Why I Chose It:

GOSH, this entire book is beautiful, if I’m being honest. But then again, it’s David, so I wouldn’t expect anything less.

I really like this quote, because I think it’s pretty true. Most of the time ‘okay’ is enough, because it means nothing bad is happening, and it makes the times when you’re more than okay – fantastic or marvellous or outstanding – so much more special that way.

What books did you receive in the mail recently? What do you think of my Simply Sunday?

P.s. I opened up a writing/LGBTQIA/general blog!

  1. I need to read The Diviners. It’s been on my shelf for nearly 2 years I think, but I just haven’t had the chance to pick it up.
    Thanks for the post.

  2. Nara says:

aksdf Queen of Shadows is so good! I actually freaked out so much when I opened it because I completely wasn’t expecting it.
I’m on the fence about Another Day…really not too sure whether I want to read it because Every Day was pretty good as a standalone. Might wait for some reviews to come in before deciding whether to read it.

    • Chiara says:

Queen of Shadows was my favourite ToG book so far. SO MUCH LOVE.

Yeah, I don’t think Another Day really added anything to the story, especially since I didn’t even like Rhiannon all the much :/

  3. QUEEN OF SHADOWS EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!

Homecoming sounds like something I’d love and definitely something I should look into!

    • Chiara says:

I KNOW, RIGHT. SO MUCH LOVE.

Oh, yay! I’m glad you like the sound of it. I STILL haven’t gotten around to reading it, but when I do, I’ll let you know how it goes :D

  4. Jules says:

    • Chiara says:

Every Day is so beautiful, so I hope you do read it soon, Jules!

Oh, I hope you like Throne of Glass when you read it! If you’re not the biggest fan of the first book, keep going because they get better and better!

  5. SO I’M STUCK ON ONE THING IN THIS POST THAT I CAN’T GET PAST SO APOLOGIES FOR NOT COMMENTING ON ANY OTHER PART OF THIS POST BUT

  6. Valerie says:

Wait there’s a book out that’s by Tim Burton? I mean sure it’s non-fiction but I would like non-fiction haha. AND WOW QUEEN OF SHADOWS! I hope you enjoy that Chiara!!!!

  7. QUEEN OF SHADOWS!!!! MUCH JEALOUSLY. MUCH.
I haven’t read Just Like Fate but I LOVE the cover and I love the auhors.

Also “How to be Happy”? YES PLEASE

    • Chiara says:

      QUEEN OF SHADOWS IS EVERYTHING.

I love the cover, too! I think both of them are pretty, actually :D I’ve read books by Suzanne Young, but not Cat Patrick, so I’m excited!

  8. Yayyy so many awesome books this week! QoS and Lair of Dreams were in my mailbox too hehe. Hope you enjoy them! I liked Just Like Fate and The Originals as well, they had a unique premise to them.

  9. Wow, Lair of Dreams has such a gorgeous cover! I still have to read the first book, I am just hesitating because the book is so huge!:) But I am sure I’ll love it, because guess what? Diviners is released on my birthday! And we already know that books released on that day are bound to be awesome!:)

    • Chiara says:

It really is! The first one is even prettier, I believe :) The books are huge, but you;’d be surprised with how quickly you get through them! The storylines are very addictive :)

All the best books were released on your birthday, Mishma! <3

  10. Romi says:

Queen of Shadows. Queen of Shadows. Let’s start a chant, Chiara. Queen of Shadows. Queen of Shadows.
Have you finished it already? I only started it yesterday and haven’t even had a chance to read any today, but hopefully later in the week my hectic scheduel becomes more manageable and I get to finish it. BUT IT IS ALREADY SO GOOD. I heart it.
I’ve read a couple of Cat Patrick’s novels and would be interested to hear your thoughts on them- Forgotten was my favourite and I think it needs a reread to see how I feel about it the second time around, since the romance hs become questionable in recent reviews I’ve read. But still. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on them!
How did you go with How to be Happy?
    x

    • Chiara says:

You already know all my feelings on QoS, so I won’t repeat them, haha XD BUT QUEEN OF SHADOWSSSSSSSSS

Oh, I’m glad that you like them! I seriously haven’t heard much of anything about her books, so I am interested to see what I think :D I’ll definitely let you know how I go.

UGH @ HOW TO BE HAPPY. ALL THE UGH.
