sunday

Simply Sunday is a reading meme run here at Books for a Delicate Eternity. It’s where you can share your favourite quote of the week; be it from a book, a novella, a short story, a poem – whatever you like!

My Simple Thing:

“We sit and listen and are enthralled anew, for good stories, it seems, never lose their magic.”

A quote from Libba Bray (The Sweet Far Thing).

Why I Chose It:

Libba Bray has one of the most wonderful grasps of the English language. Which is a sentence that doesn’t make much sense. But she knows how to weave words together in such beautiful ways, and I am happy to say that she is one of my favourite authors.

When I was reading The Sweet Far Thing, there were a lot of lines that I could have used for this week’s Simply Sunday, but I particularly liked this one because it is about stories! And stories are such a huge part of all of our lives (and by ‘our’ I mean book bloggers and readers). Good stories really never do lose their magic, which is why I picked this quote. Because it rang so true with me.

I hope you’re all having a lovely long Easter weekend, whether or not you commemorate/celebrate the days <3

What do you think of my Simply Sunday? Have you read any quotes you’ve loved recently?

  1. I’ve actually never read a Libba Bray before! I wanted to read Beauty Queens but I forgot my library card at home that day. This quote is awesome, I’m so glad you chose it. For whatever reason, I just pictured all my fave mg books when I read it. I just feel like the magic from those books are more…pure and even a little silly? I love silly (:

      Ah, you need to rectify that, Nova! Her books are gorgeous, and definitely worth the read. I’m glad you liked it <3 And I imagined my favourites from childhood, too! I think they will always hold a special place in ours hearts.

    That’s true. Whatever format/medium these stories are if it’s good we get lost into it. And that’s magical in itself. I really loved that quote even though I have yet to read Libba Bray book. ^^;

  3. Oh – Libba Bray unequivocally holds my heart. All of her quotes are so very gorgeous; every single line of her books, it seems, deserves to be quoted. I have yet to read this book, but I know already that I will adore it just as much as all of her others. Thank you so much for sharing, lovely. <3

      I know, right. I envy her grasp on the English language because it is SUPERB. I didn’t love this book quite as much as, say, The Diviners, but it was definitely enjoyable :D No problem <3

  4. Okay, I will admit that I still need to read something by Libba Bray. I LOVE this quote though. It’s definitely suitable for us readers!
