Songs for Azael

If you do not know (but seriously, if you read this blog, like, at all, how could you not know), I love Azael. Azael, from the Ignite series by Erica Crouch. He’s pretty much infiltrated my life heart, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love him more than any character (except maybe Day), and I am 100% sure that this is never going to change.

So, I thought one fair morning, I am going to make a playlist for my love.

And this is what I made:

ghost town – adam lambert

Azael was the first thing that popped into my head when I heard this song. Because he sees himself as so much darker and emptier than he really is, and I legitimately think that Az probably believes his heart is a ghost town.

royals – lorde

This song is Az to a ‘t’ (tee? IDK, you know what I mean). He wants to rule Hell with Pen. He wants to be royal. (You’re royal to me, bb.)

hypnotise – polarheart

Even though a lot of people would probably classify this as a romantic song, it made me think of Az and Pen. I am 100% sure that he would spend 1000 days trying to hypnotise her into being his Queen of Hell. 100%.

in for the kill – la roux

This song is for Az when he’s being a complete and utter badass on the battlefield. He’s always going in for the kill. (And a lot of Pen/Az feels in this song, actually. “I’m hoping you’ll understand, and not let go of my hand”, especially. And “I hang my hopes out on the line”.)

fresh blood – eels

Again, Az being a sexy bloodthirsty demon, always out for fresh hearts of girls to slay blood. As well as feels about how broken Az is: “I’m more alone than I’ve ever been, help me out of the shape I’m in”.

demons – imagine dragons

Okay. Az himself is an actual demon, so this song is beyond perfect. But aside from his own demon-ness, Az is filled with inner demons. His complexity completely ruins me. There are no quotes because the whole song.

pompeii – bastille

Oh, darling Az. This song is pretty much how I imagine he feels whenever he thinks of Pen in the later books. He’s so torn between wanting to be “evil” and not caring for her, but he cannot let her go. This song makes me sad for my bb.

polar bear – king charles

This is how I imagine Az might have felt about Lillith. She drew him in with her femininity, and the helpless front that she put forward. And then she tore him down. Although, to be honest, I have a headcanon that Az is asexual. But this song is still pretty accurate.

love is blindness – jack white

How Az views the world (or how he likes to think he views the world). That love is blindness. That love is weakness. How wrong he is. *smothers him with love*

These songs are all kind of upbeat and techno-ish, which surprised me a bit becuase I am such an acoustic lover. But all of these songs are perfect for Az, and if he did listen to music, I really think that this would be his jam.
