Books for Thought is where I post a discussion topic related to books, reading, writing, or something pertaining to one of the three. I hope you’ll join in, and discuss today’s topic of

book titles: sexy-fied

So I was reading Marianne’s post about book titles, and then I was thinking about how a certain title might be misinterpreted. So here I am. Sexy-fying some YA titles, and adding made up one liners for them. For your enjoyment, of course. Why else?

1. Touch of Power by Maria V. Snyder

He has the touch of power – but will she have the strength to resist?

2. Every Move by Ellie Marney

It’s in her every move, and he is a willing subject.

3. Thin Space by Jody Casella

The thin space between their bodies will disappear.

4. The Sound by Sarah Alderson

It’s all about the sound they make.

5. Spark by Rachael Craw

The spark is there, but will it last?

6. Sleep No More by Aprilynne Pike

She promised a night he’d never forget.

7. Embrace by Jessica Shirvington

It started out as an innocent embrace.

8. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi

She begged; he listened.

9. The Host by Stephenie Meyer

A dinner party he’ll remember forever.

10. Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty

He’s back for seconds, and this time there will be no holding back.

Okay, besides the fact that I should obviously be the person that writes those taglines for erotica novels, this was far too fun. I could have kept on going. Some YA titles are just asking to be sexy-fied. But I displayed self control (it surprised me, too).

Have you ever seen a title you thought could be sexy-fied? Share below!

P.s. I have been nominated for best book blogger in the 2015 Best of Blog Awards (WHAT EVEN?!?!?!). So if you want to click through and vote for me, my eternal love is yours ;D

  2. Katherine says:

Haha, this was such a fun post! I Loved the Host and Unravel Me :)

  3. Sydney says:

I’M CACKLING THIS IS GREAT AND FULL OF ABSOLUTE QUALITY I MEAN THAT WITHOUT ANY SORT OF SARCASM.

No but IMAGINE every YA title with a sexified one liner on the cover. SEX SELLS PEOPLE (okay now I’m kidding. Sort of).

Also I VOTED FOR YOU and I literally don’t know a single blog in any of the other categories but I still went through that ENTIRE DAMNED LIST and voted for you. <333 I hope you win! It would be absolutely fantastic.

    • Chiara says:

      YAY FOR CACKLING *DANCES*

I think it would be hilarious, and I’d never be in need of a job ;D

Awh, thank you! I know how many things there were D: I’m pretty certain I didn’t get any farther, but it was nice to be on the list!

  4. Okay but WHERE DID YOU GO WRONG with Unravel Me?? That could legit be the subtitle and I’d be a-okay with that. *swoons*

  5. Kelly says:

This is such a coincidence. I was browsing Booktopia today and came across a children’s picture book called… Love Canal. I had to double take, then look again. The Host, that’s too funny. Reminds me of the old seventies bowl parties. Not that I was around then. These are hilarious Chiara!

Have also voted. Best of luck, you’re a shoe in <3

  6. Damn, Chiara. Stop blogging and go work for Mills & Boon. Your true calling is writing those tag lines :P

I can’t think of any titles that I’ve sexified in my head, but there’s definitely been some in the past. Although I remember when I told my sister about the novel Pawn she thought I was saying a word with a slightly different spelling…

Congrats on being nominated! I’m going to go vote right now :D

  7. Ooooh~! You have some knack of sexyfying (< is this even a word) things, haha. xD I loved the one for Unravel Me "She begged; he listened." Oh boy, did he listen. ;D And congrats on the nomination.

  8. Kendall says:

I love the one for Unravel Me. It’s hilarious. I’ve seen a lot of children books with titles like that but I can’t remember what they are.

  9. Alysia says:

Lol!! I love this post. Never thought about it before but I’ll definitely be looking at some titles differently now. I think my favorite is for Unravel Me b/c it’s kind of fitting. :P

  10. This is legit beautiful. I couldn’t stop thinking about Thin Space and Unravel Me. OH MY GOD. Then there’s Warm Bodies that I TOTALLY read wrong the first time.

  11. Haha, I like the way you think! PS: Good luck with the Best of Blog Awards!

  12. Lillian says:

LOL These YA books were asking for it! :P I tried to create a few one-liners for some other misleading titles and the self-control it takes to keep it PG-13 lol

I would add Ignite by Erica Crouch. Their passion was fierce and unresistable.

Love this post! I missed commenting here <3
Congrats on the nomination!(definitely voting for you) :D

  13. Shannelle says:

This sounds like poetry, Chiara. :D Really suggestive poetry. And I wanted to vote for you, but it wasn’t there. :(

  14. Annie says:

oh my gosh these cracked me up!! I think Touch of Power is my favorite but you should TOTALLY be the person writing taglines for erotica :) Thank you for a good laugh on a Friday.

  15. I’ll admit that I shamelessly giggle-snorted because erotica taglines just make me laugh so hard. :D Congratulations on the nomination! Best of luck! ♥
