mail

Books for Mail is basically me showcasing my addiction to buying books. Every two weeks, I’ll show you guys which books I have bought/received, and hopefully you’ll find some great titles!

In My Mailbox:

SS Collage 11

None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio: This is an LGBT+ book about an intersex protagonist and just looks all kinds of amazing. And also the first book I ever requested (and was approved for!) from Edelweiss. BOOYEAH.

Incite by Erica Crouch: I CANNOT EVEN WITH INCITE OMG OMG. Yay Net Galley!

Don’t Ever Change by M. Beth Bloom: Another LGBT+ book from Edelweiss. I hadn’t heard of this one but it looks awesome. Huge plus points for the cover.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli: BLESS NET GALLEY. BLESS THIS BOOK. BLESS YOU. BLESS EVERYTHING.

Can I just point out that I DID NOT BUY ONE BOOK IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. I repeat: I have stuck by my book buying ban. *basks in glory* And I conveniently gloss over the fact that I am again requesting galleys. Shhh. We will also not talk about how right at the moment you are reading this I am at a secondhand book fair with little to no self control.

sunday

Simply Sunday is a reading meme run here at Books for a Delicate Eternity. It’s where you can share your favourite quote of the week; be it from a book, a novella, a short story, a poem, a song – whatever you like!

My Simple Thing:

“The true warrior isn’t immune to fear. She fights in spite of it.”

A quote from Francesca Lia Block (Love in the Time of Global Warming).

Why I Chose It:

I know this has been said in a variety of ways in a variety of media, but I still love it. No one is immune to fear, and when we overcome our fear, it makes us all the more stronger.

What books did you receive in the mail recently? What do you think of my Simply Sunday?

  1. Yay ‘grats on not buying books for 2 weeks! I also kept my book buying ban and did not buy any books since the new year. Well I sort of ‘bought’ a book but it was $0.00 hahaha so that doesn’t count! Yay for getting approved on Edelweiss! I also have NOTA and DEC. I hope we both like it! (if you want to read it together, let me know!).

    • Chiara says:

Thank you, Leigh! :D I have felt pretty proud, I must say XD Buying a free book definitely doesn’t count, so congratulations to you, too!

I’ll probably be reading them a bit closer to their release dates, so I’ll definitely let you know when I start them! I have never actually done a buddy read :3

  2. I just love those quotes that you pick out, this one is very empowering this week!

Hehe I can’t wait to see your next Sunday post :P IM STAYING OFF NETGALLEY LALALA I DONT SEE ANYTHING

  3. Congrats on not buying books for two weeks. And oh no, a book fair! They are impossible to resist, and one of the reasons why I have so many books on my shelf that I haven’t read. It’s impossible to go to one without bringing at least ten books home. I keep getting all these book deals sent to my email and it makes me want to cry. Don’t they know I’m trying NOT to buy books.
Hope you enjoy the review books you got.

    • Chiara says:

Thank you, Rochelle! Yeah, a lot of my physical TBR is made up of secondhand books from book fairs. They are just too god to resist.

I don’t get deals sent to my email, because I know I would break my ban all too quickly, haha.

      I hope I do, too!

  4. Congrats on these! Yes, go bask your well-deserved glory. I ahven’t read anything by Francesca Lia Block but I’m not really good with prose book, which are the books of her that I usually see on bookstores.

    • Chiara says:

Thank you! I have been pretty proud of myself for resisting all the books :D

LOVE IN THE TIME OF GLOBAL WARMING wasn’t actually written in prose! Which I thought was good, because I am not a huge fan of books written in prose, either. I just can’t ever really connect to it.

  5. Alise says:

This totally just reminded me that I need to request None of the Above too, I’m SO excited for that one! Congrats on your approval! Yeah that cover for Don’t Ever Change is so pretty! Ooh, I’m really liking that quote too. :)

  6. Oh my god, I LOVE the look of None of the Above – it sounds absolutely amazing. And it’s so lovely to see more LGBTQ+ books popping up here and there as well, especially with more than just the L and G parts of the scale! ;)

I love that quote, as well. No matter how many times or in how many ways it’s said, I think the meaning will always ring true.

    • Chiara says:

It does sound amazing, and I have been hearing really good things, too :D And yes, you’re right. I’m loving the rise in LGBT+ books in YA!

I’m glad you liked it, Topaz!

  7. NONE OF THE ABOVE. Oh my lordy, Chiara! You have no idea how excited I am from that one – and so lucky to be approved for it on Edelweiss. I’ve given up hope of ever being approved for a book on there. Really hope you enjoy that one, lovely – looking forward to your review. :)

    • Chiara says:

I cannot wait to read it! VERY EXCITED.

Awh, no! I remember Bec saying something about always being declined on there. I don’t know why you would be, though! So weird.

Thanks, lovely! I look forward to sharing it :D

  8. Eeeep! I adored None of the Above! Can’t wait for you to read it, Chiara. ^_^ I’ve heard amazing things about Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda as well. And CONGRATULATIONS to sticking to your ban! I usually give up after a week. ;P

    • Chiara says:

Yay! I cannot wait to read it, and I’m glad to know you liked it :D

      SIMON is freaking wonderful. <3

Thank you! I have actually stuck to it so far, so I'm hoping this streak lasts all year, haha.

  9. Melissa says:

Love your blog! Just wanted to let you know :)

  10. Cayce says:

Yay for getting Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda! YAAAAAY!!!
