5-reasons

Five Reasons To is basically my way of convincing you to love the same things I do. Because I love a lot of things for a lot of reasons. Hopefully my powers of persuasion will work their magic on you, and you can find new things to love!

Today, I am going to give you five reasons to:

Watch GRIMM

Okay, so a few years ago, I remember seeing ads on TV about a show where the Brothers Grimm tales come to life and this cop has to hunt down these evil monster badasses lest THE WORLD DIE (or something, y’know). Cue years passing of watching various TV shows, and then a few months ago I remembered GRIMM and bought the first season (and then the second, because I have a serious lack of self control when it comes to owning things), and loved them. And because I am the only person I know who watches it, I thought I might give y’all (am I Murican now?) five reasons to watch it. Because you’re worth it *hair flip*

1. Nick

LOOK AT THE PRETTY. LIKE, SERIOUSLY. YOU GET TO SEE THIS FACE EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. FORTY MINUTES OF THIS PRETTY FACE. IT’S LIKE GOD SCULPTED THIS FACE FROM MARBLE. I JUST C A N ‘ T WITH HIS FACE. LEAVE ME, GO ON WITHOUT ME.

2. Monroe

I have a hard time trying to find a character in any TV show that I love as much as Monroe. He is the perfect character. He’s strong, but vulnerable. Funny, but protective. He’s just perf, okay? HE’S ADORABLE.

3. The Grimm Stuff

The actual Grimm/supernatural stuff in this show is awesome. And sometimes freaking cute as shit. I mean look at Rosalee in that GIF up there. SHE’S A FOX AND SHE’S ADORABLE. And also, the effects are pretty freaking awesome. Look at that flawless transition from Monroe to Blutebad and Rosalee to Fuchsbau. FLAWLESS.

4. The Relationships

In particular: the friendships. They are amazing. Nick will do anything for Hank (above) and Monroe, but the wonderful thing is: they would do anything for him, too. These guys are not afraid to ask or give help and it’s just BEAUTIFUL, OKAY? THE FRIENDSHIPS IN THIS SHOW ARE BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, THINGS.

5. The Lore

The only GIF I could find for this was one where one of the Wesen (the humans that change into creatures) ate a baby, SO that probably wasn’t the nicest one to show you guys. But the lore is freaking awesome, and Nick + crew use these totally ancient and badass books that are always written in a different language and they have to figure it out and it’s just AMAZING, AIGHT?

So these are five reasons for you to watch the lovely GRIMM. I hope I have inspired you to give it a chance, because I seriously think this show deserves more viewers. If I have convinced you, let me know what you think of GRIMM!

Ta ta for now,

I love Grimm! Are you guys in the current season?

  2. You just reminded me that this is another show I need to catch up on!

I was skeptical going in to Grimm, it was a show Dad recommended to me and I was interested in the whole mythological aspect of it. But still expectations often aren’t met with these things :/ Luckily Grimm got really cool really fast!! I really like how it incorporates a crime show with fairy tale monsters :D

    • Chiara says:

Yay for liking GRIMM. I’m glad you gave it a go, even though you were a bit wary. To be honest, I like it a lot more than I ever thought I would!

And yes, all the different monsters are fabulous!

  3. This sounds amazing. I was never actually interested in this show until now – I had no idea what it was about, but now I NEED it. I have to watch it as soon as I possibly can!

  4. Can you believe that I watched the first season when it first came out, right up to the last 5 episodes before season finale. BUT I NEVER GOT TO FINISH IT. I think it was because I was balancing so many different shows at the same time and something had to be sacrificed in the end.

BUT I WANT TO GET BACK TO THIS ONE. Monroe was just my favourite character. I just want to give my squishy hugs because he’s so adorable!

  5. Omg I saw these ads on TV AGESSSSS ago as well and thought ‘wow, this looks fantastic’ but never got around to it because…life *shakes fist* You’re very convincing Chiara, I’m running out of things to watch and I really love fairytale adaptations and retellings and such. *scurries off to find the dvds*

  6. I had seen this show around but never actually watched it for some reason, but now I’m definitely interested! I know of a few shows that do have this fairtyale-spin off vibe but this one looks like a great one. Thanks for sharing Chiara :)

    • Chiara says:

It’s not much of a fairytale spin-off. There are just elements from the GRIMM tales that are incorporated really well.

I’m glad you’re interested, and I hope you give it a go, Eugenia :D

  7. Savindi says:

I used to watch Grimm a while back, but because I was in school I stopped. I do that a lot with shows lol. But I think what I found a bit with it was that it kind of reminded me a lot of Once Upon a Time (another show that I used to watch, but then stopped again)? I remember really liking Hank and Nick! Monroe was super cool as well. I’ve been watching more animes than tv shows these days lol. But thanks for reminding me about this show. If I feel like binge watching something, I’ll give this one a try!

    • Chiara says:

I’m surprised it reminded you of Once Upon A Time, because it is very different! There’s not much centred on the GRIMM tales, and it really makes a show of itself, rather than relying on the fairytales to give it a plot.

Hank, Nick and Monroe are amazing characters and I am a huge fan!

I hope you get back to it, Savindi!

  8. Olgia says:

I’ve been watching Once Upon a Time recently and really really liking it and this seems similar. I think I shall give this a shot.

  9. Shannelle says:

Oh my goodness Chiara don’t do this to me I already have so many shows I need to watch and finish I don’t need to start ANOTHER that sounds absolutely epic. I mean, I could start watching Merlin any day now.

  10. Honestly you had me at Nick *blushes* but seriously this show seems epic and I have been meaning to watch it FOR AGES, I adore Grimm’s fairy tales so I’ll need to hurry up already and watch this show soon, love the gifs btw :)

    • Chiara says:

Yesss. Nick is beautiful and I have heart eyes for him constantly!

I hope you watch it, Safah! It is definitely worth it, especially if you love the Grimm tales!

  11. Fantastic post, Chiara! I’ve been meaning to watch this since I first saw it advertised on TV (I think I watched the first two epsidoese?), and I bought the first season like…6 months ago? I finally watched the first episode last night and I am already in love with it.

  12. After I saw the trailer for it, I’ve always wanted to watch it! I don’t know why, but I still haven’t found the time. I will soon though!

  13. I’ve been watching Grimm since it started. There’ve been some pretty fun storylines in the last two seasons!
