end of year survey 2013

So Jamie does these awesome surveys, and I really loved the sound of this one – reflecting is fun – so let’s get to it!

best books

1. Best book you read in 2013?

Oooo – this is kind of a tough one since I have read A LOT of amazing books in 2013. BUT. My two favourites would have to be The Hundred Thousand Kingdomsby N.K. Jemisin, and Ignite by Erica Crouch. I’m allowed two, because one is traditionally published, and the other is indie published!

2. Book you were excited about & thought you were going to love more but didn’t?

Teardropby Lauren Kate. I thought it would be awesome, but it really fell flat for me. *sadface*

3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2013?

The Hostby Stephenie Meyer! I had never thought to read it, saw the movie for a laugh, adored the movie, ended up reading the book, and really liking the book!

4. Book you read in 2013 that you recommended to people most in 2013?

Ignite by Erica Crouch! I recommend this to pretty much everyone who will listen to me! :D

5. Best series you discovered in 2013?

Uhm. I discovered A LOT of series this year, due to blogging. There’s even more, but these are my favourites.

6. Favourite new author you discovered in 2013?

These questions are so HARD. But, I think Erica Crouch takes the cake (again!). She’s super talented (in more ways than one), and super nice, and just super awesome.

7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or a new genre for you?

I don’t read a lot of contemporary, but Something Like Normalby Trish Doller blew me away when I read it last week.

8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2013?

OH GOD NOT AGAIN. I couldn’t put down The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin, The Falconer by Elizabeth May, Atone by Jessica Grey,Ignite by Erica Crouch, or When the World Was Flat (and we were in love)by Ingrid Jonach.

20. Best book you read in 2013 that was based solely on a recommendation from someone else?

5. One thing you hope to accomplish or do in your reading/blogging in 2014?

Hmm. Read 100 books again, which may prove difficult with Honours, and everything. But I would love to reach 500 followers – even if that makes me sound a little shallow, haha. But it’s such a nice wholesome number! Oh, and there’s this one person’s blogroll that I have made it my mission to get on. Because their blog is one of my favourites and I JUST WANT THEM TO LOVE ME.

  1. TOO MANY BOOK BOYFRIENDS!!! I told Veronica we’re going to need a bunch of separate houses so we can visit one each day of the week xD

And I’ve been told I need to read The Infernal Devices too, so I bought the whole series. We should read them together!

You can talk to me about the ending of Siege and Storm. aljfdkjasfjkdlsaj. STURMHOND.

  2. readaholic31 says:

I seriously need to read Siege and Storm to see what this ending is all about! And Pen and Raffe?? Oh yes! If you and Kayla get the separate houses for book boyfriends I might just have to pay a visit! ;-)

  3. ChrissiReads says:

Great answers :-) I’m thinking that I really need to check out Ignite!

  4. I’m definitely going to check out Ignite! I’ve seen it several times at the bookstore.

  5. flipthatpage says:

And oh, thanks you like my discussions :D So anyway, I hope 2014 will be an amazing year, and I hope we get to be as close as we are for longer! And great survey, Chiara <3

    • Haha, yay for Ignite love! :D
Oh, Jasmine. I really think you should read Splintered. I think you may most likely fall in love with it. Add it to your TBR, girl!
HOW HAVE YOU NOT READ ANGELFALL YOU CRAZY GIRL. Raffe is just divine. A snarky angel that is just asdfghjkl. READ IT.
I love everything about your blog. You know that! :D
We definitely will – I know it <3

  6. I have wanted to read Something Like Normal as soon as I heard about which was probably at the start of this year and I just never got the time to buy it at all. In the last couple of weeks I have just seen it pop up everywhere, i really do need to buy it.
I also read some self and indie published books this year and I really just want to spread the word about them, some of them are amazing, beautiful reads that I think everyone should hear about.

  7. Angie says:

How fun that you started your blog this year and are having a good time. I didn’t love love blogging until I was in year two. Then I think I became more of my own voice. Prior to that I was learning the ropes. Reading 100 books in 2014 is a good goal too… that was my goal in 2013 and I didn’t quite reach it! Here is my survey: http://angelasanxiouslife.blogspot.com/2013/12/2013-end-of-year-book-survey.html

  8. Emma Snow says:

I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL YOU READ THE INFERNAL DEVICES. IT’S FANTASTIC! <3

  9. I hate the question where they ask you to name only one favorite. Like we could name only one! Pfft, please! Splintered is definitely a gorgeous cover, as is it’s sequel Unhinged. Ignite is also one I am definitely going to try to be getting my hands on this year, too. I just must read it soon! The quote is good. Our quotes are both kind of sad, but great.

    • I know! I always have to cheat and list more than one, haha :P
Yes, I am in love with both of Howard’s covers, and am really excited to see what the third one looks like!
I hope you like Ignite! It’s one that is very dear to my heart.
I know, right. But I think the more heartbreaking ones stick with me the most.
